Bob’s stand on the key issues.

1. Washington is broken both financially and operationally because the federal government has far exceeded the powers granted by the people in the Constitution. This has led to excessive spending and unconstitutional infringement of personal and states rights. Bob would use the force of the veto, executive rights, congressional negotiations, and direct communication to the people to gradually redirect the federal government back to the duties and responsibilities as defined by the constitution. The most powerful government in the world must protect the nation and operate within its means by eliminating deficits and retiring the national debt in a reasonable time.  We need a Libertarian President

2. The US and the world need an effective short and long range energy policy. Our entire standard of living is dependant on low cost and plentiful energy. The world is catching up to America and their future energy demands exceed ours. The most important scientific advancement facing us is the development of totally pollution free Fusion reactors. This requires the development of room temperature electrical super conductive materials to make the powerful magnets needed to harness the fusion process. We also need a full development of alternates to fossil fuels to supply energy until fusion reactors are actually brought on line. This process requires many years of hard work and politicians can not see past four years. By replacing fossil fuels with fusion generated electricity the question of global warming due to CO2 would be answered and we would have more inexpensive energy. The country needs a president with an energy plan, environmental concern and personal ethics.

3. The situation in the world and Iraq will be different in 2009 than today. Bob’s current position is that the United States should declare victory in Northern Iraq and let the Kurds control their fledging democracy. We should stabilize the Shi areas of Iraq into areas that they can control so that the United States would have another friendly ally. This would also be a victory. We should help the rest of Iraq areas to gain their control and if that is not done in a reasonable time we should let them decide their own future without our help. The United States should remain strong in this world and help freedom flourish wherever possible. We have a committed enemy that wants to destroy the United States by “a death of a thousand cuts”. The United States can prevail against this aggression through better leadership.

4. The United States should have free immigration and naturalization as specifically provided for in the Constitution. However, the current federal government has lost control and we need to re-establish open borders. To do this Bob believes that the borders should be effectively sealed from all non entitled immigrants. The federal government should then provide for an organized encouragement for future immigrants. Current non citizen residents should be encouraged to become citizens. Immigrants should accept the responsibilities of citizenship and expect to enjoy the privileges. All non citizens that commit crimes in this country should be deported. This plan would control future immigration and allow current law abiding non citizens in the United States to gain citizenship by lawful application. History has proven that we need open immigration to help America grow.

5. There is unacceptable economic and social disparity in America caused by creeping socialism and a "village" mentallity.  The ever growing federal government promotes governmental control of individuals, unconstitutionally restricts personal freedom, taxes personal inititive, destroys strong extended families and divides ethnic groups for political power.  Bob has extensive experience in creating Libertarian style legislation in Michigan.  This legislation and Bob's leadership proved that distressed urban areas can gain economic and social parity with normal American expectations.   Ironically the Democrats rejected the program as it would dilute a major voting block and the Republicans rejected the program as an economic threat to the status quo.  Democrats and Republicans together have polarized the country and they will not change.
